حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا جُبَارَةُ بْنُ مُغَلِّسٍ، وَعُبَادَةُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَا: ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ أَبِي حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ، قَالَ: نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ أَمْرٍ كَانَ لَنَا نَافِعًا، وَأَمْرُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الرَّأْسِ وَالْعَيْنَيْنِ، نَهَانَا أَنْ نُكْرِيَ أَرْضَنَا بِبَعْضِ مَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا وبِوَرِقٍ مَنْقُودَةٍ، وَقَالَ: «مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَرْضٌ فَلْيَزْرَعْهَا أَوْ لِيَمْنَحْهَا أَخَاهُ»
Qays bin Rifa'ah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his grandfather, Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from something that was beneficial to us, and the command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is upon our heads and eyes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from renting out our land in return for part of what it produces or for fixed silver coins, and he said: "Whoever has land, let him cultivate it himself or give it to his brother."
