خالد بن عرفطة العذري " وعذرة من قضاعة وكان خليفة سعد بن أبي وقاص على الكوفة ثم استعمله زياد على الكوفة "
Khalid bin Urfutah al-Udhri (may Allah be pleased with him) (Udhrah is from Qudaah; he was the deputy of Sad bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) over Kufah, then Ziyad appointed him governor of Kufah)
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 4084 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Khalid

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، قَالَا، ثنا، حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالُوا: ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عُرْفُطَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «يَا خَالِدُ إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ فِتْنَةٌ وأَحْدَاثٌ وَاخْتِلَافٌ وَفُرْقَةٌ، فَإِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَكُونَ الْمَقْتُولَ لَا الْقَاتِلَ فَافْعَلْ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khalid bin Urfutah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Khalid, there will soon be tribulation, new events, disagreement and division. When that happens, if you are able to be the one killed rather than the killer, then do so."
