Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 3846 — Mu'awiyah came, and the Ansar were slow

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and the Ansar were slow in going out to receive him, so he did nothing for them (that is, he gave them nothing). Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Soon you will face others being preferred over you, so be patient until you meet me.'" Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Then be patient." Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "We will be patient as we have been commanded. By Allah, we will not let you off from this right."
