Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 3778 — When some men among us came out after
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَزَّارُ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَلَكٍ الرَّاسِبِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مَسْمُولٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ، قَالَ: " كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِنَّا إِذَا خَرَجُوا مِنَ الْغَائِطِ يَغْسِلُونَ أَثَرَ الْغَائِطِ فَنَزَلَتْ فِيهِمْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {فِيهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّونَ أَنْ يَتَطَهَّرُوا} [التوبة: ١٠٨] "
Sayyiduna Khuzaymah bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When some men among us came out after relieving themselves, they would wash away the traces (with water), so this verse was revealed concerning them: "In it (the mosque) are men who love to purify themselves." [Surah al-Tawbah: 108]
