حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا ذَيَّالُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَدِّي حَنْظَلَةَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فِي حِجْرِي يَتِيمٌ وَقَدْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَيْهِ بِمِئَةٍ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ، فَرَأَيْتُ الْغَضَبَ فِي وَجْهِهِ وَقَالَ: «لَا، إِنَّمَا الصَّدَقَةُ خَمْسٌ، وَإِلَّا فَعَشْرٌ، وَإِلَّا فَخَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ، حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ أَرْبَعِينَ»
Sayyiduna Hanzalah bin Hidhyam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I said: O Messenger of Allah! There is an orphan in my care, and I have given him one hundred camels in charity. I saw displeasure on his ((peace and blessings be upon him)) face, and he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "No. Charity is only five (camels), otherwise ten, otherwise fifteen, until it reaches forty."
