It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Harith bin Ziyad al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Day of the Trench while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was taking the pledge of emigration from the people, and we thought that they too should be called to the pledge. So al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Take the pledge from this man as well. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who is this?" He said: This is my cousin Hawt bin Yazid — or Yazid bin Hawt. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will not take the pledge from you in this way, for people emigrate to you from other places; you do not emigrate to them." Then he said: "By the One in whose Hand is my soul, no man loves the Ansar until he meets Allah except that he will meet Allah while Allah loves him; and no man hates the Ansar until he meets Allah except that he will meet Allah while Allah hates him."
