حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنِ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ وَالْأَضْحَى، فَكَبَّرَ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى سَبْعًا وَقَرَأَ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ، وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ خَمْسًا وَقَرَأَ اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ»
Sayyiduna Abu Waqid al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that "the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in prayer on the day of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. In the first rak'ah he said seven takbirs and recited Surah Qaf, and in the second rak'ah he said five takbirs and recited Surah Iqtarabat al-Sa'ah (al-Qamar)."
