حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، ثنا غُنْدَرٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَجَّاجَ بْنَ الْحَجَّاجِ الْبَاهِلِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ - وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ - عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُرَاهُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَهُمْ بِالْإِبْرَادِ بِالظُّهْرِ بِأَنَّ الْحَرَّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ»
Shu'bah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I heard al-Hajjaj bin al-Hajjaj al-Bahili (may Allah have mercy on him) narrating from his father, who had the companionship of the Messenger, from a man among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I think he was Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), that "the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them to pray the Zuhr prayer in the cooler time, because the heat is from the vapour of Hell."
