Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 2956 — Hamzah bin Amr al-Aslami said

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْحَلَبِيُّ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ حَمْزَةَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْأَسْلَمِيَّ قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنِّي رَجُلٌ أَصُومُ، فَأَصُومُ فِي السَّفَرِ؟ فَقَالَ: «إِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَفْطِرْ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Hamzah bin Amr al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "I am a man who fasts, so should I fast while travelling?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you wish, fast; and if you wish, break your fast."
