حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النَّاقِدُ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عُبَيْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أَبِي يَزِيدَ: رَأَيْتَ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، رَأَيْتُهُ جَالِسًا فِي حَوْضِ زَمْزَمَ. قُلْتُ: هَلْ رَأَيْتَهُ صَبَغَ. قَالَ: «لَا إِلَّا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُهُ وَلِحْيَتُهُ سَوْدَاءُ إِلَى هَذَا الْمَوْضِعِ، يَعْنِي عَنْفَقَتَهُ، وَأَسْفَلُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ بَيَاضٌ. وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَابَ ذَلِكَ الْمَوْضِعُ مِنْهُ، وَكَانَ يَتَشَبَّهُ بِهِ»
Sufyan bin Uyaynah narrates: I asked Ubaydullah bin Abi Yazid: Did you see Husayn bin Ali? He said: Yes, I saw him sitting by the basin of Zamzam. I asked: Did you see him dyeing his hair? He said: No, but I saw that his beard was black up to this spot, meaning the hair beneath the lower lip ('anfaqah), and below that it was white. And he mentioned that the hair of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had also turned white at that same spot, and that he (Husayn) resembled him (peace and blessings be upon him) in this.
