Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 2885 — from her father, Sayyiduna Husayn bin
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْبَاقِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ لُوَيْنٌ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْحُسَيْنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَمِنَ الْكِبْرِ أَنْ أَلْبَسَ الْحُلَّةَ الْحَسَنَةَ؟ قَالَ: «لَا» . قَالَ: فَمِنَ الْكِبْرِ أَنْ أَرْكَبَ النَّاقَةَ النَّجِيبَةَ؟ قَالَ: «لَا» . قَالَ: أَفَمِنَ الْكِبْرِ أَنْ أَصْنَعَ طَعَامًا فَأَدْعُوَ قَوْمًا يَأْكُلُونَ عِنْدِي، وَيَمْشُونَ خَلْفَ عَقِبِي؟ قَالَ: «لَا» . قَالَ: فَمَا الْكِبْرُ؟ قَالَ: «أَنْ تُسَفِّهَ الْحَقَّ، وتَغْمِصَ النَّاسَ»
Fatimah bint Husayn (may Allah have mercy on her) narrates from her father, Sayyiduna Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), that Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Is it part of arrogance to wear fine clothing? He said: "No." He said: Is it arrogance to ride a fine she-camel? He said: "No." He said: Is it arrogance to prepare food and invite people to eat at my place and walk behind me? He said: "No." He said: Then what is arrogance? He said: "To belittle the truth and to look down on people."
