حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: «كَيْفَ صَنَعْتَ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي اسْتِلَامِ الرُّكْنِ؟» - يَعْنِي الْحَجَرَ الْأَسْوَدَ - فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ: اسْتَلَمْتُ وَتَرَكْتُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ: «أَصَبْتَ»
Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him): "O Abu Muhammad, what did you do regarding the istilam (that is, touching) of the Corner (the Black Stone)?" Abd al-Rahman replied: I touched it (at times) and left it (at times). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You did right."
