Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 2544 — The fitnah lasted five years, of which
حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، قَالَ: «كَانَتِ الْفِتْنَةُ خَمْسَ سِنِينَ لِلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ، وَكَانَتِ الْجَمَاعَةُ عَلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ»
Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil said: "The fitnah lasted five years, of which four months were for Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) (his caliphate), and the Muslim Ummah united upon Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) in the year 40 AH."
