Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 21890 — she sent a cup of milk to the Messenger

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with her), the sister of Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him), that she sent a cup of milk to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time of breaking his fast, while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was fasting, and that was in the season of long days and intense heat. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent the messenger back asking: Where did you get this milk from? She said: From a goat of mine. He (peace and blessings be upon him) again sent the messenger back asking: Where did you get this goat from? She said: I bought it with my own wealth. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted the milk. The next day Umm Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I sent the milk to you so that you might find refreshment from the length of the day and the intense heat, but you sent the messenger back with it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "This is what the Messengers have been commanded: that we eat nothing but what is pure and do nothing but what is righteous."
