حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ثنا أَبِي، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَطَاءِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، مَوْلَى الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ وَجَدَّتَهِ أُمِّ عَطَاءٍ، قَالَتَا: وَاللهِ لَكُنَّا نَنْظُرُ إِلَى الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ حِينَ أَتَانَا عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ لَهُ بَيْضَاءَ، فَقَالَ: يَا أُمَّ عَطَاءٍ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ: " نَهَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ أَنْ يَأْكُلُوا مِنْ نُسُكِهِمْ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ فَلَا تَأْكُلِيهِ، فَقُلْتُ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ كَيْفَ نَصْنَعُ بِمَا أُهْدِيَ لَنَا؟ قَالَ: أَمَّا مَا أُهْدِيَ لَكِنْ فَشَأْنُكُنَّ بِهِ "
Abdullah bin Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his mother and his grandmother Umm Ata; they both said: By Allah! We were watching Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) when he came to us on a white mule of his and said: "O Umm Ata! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has forbidden the Muslims to eat from their sacrificial meat beyond three days, so do not eat it." I said: "May my father be ransomed for you! What should we do with the meat that has been given to us as a gift?" He said: "Whatever has been given to you as a gift, that is up to you."
