Sayyiduna Junadah bin Jaradah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was from Banu Ghaylan bin Jawah, said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with camels that I had branded on their noses. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Junadah! I have not found in them any limb on which you could brand except the face. Beware, retaliation lies ahead of you." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I leave the matter to you." He said: "Bring me something that has no brand on it." So I brought a two-year-old and a three-year-old camel, and I placed the branding iron on the neck, and he kept saying: "Further back, further back," until it reached the thigh. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Brand with the blessing of Allah." So I branded them on their thighs. Their zakah was two hiqqahs (three-year-old camels), and they were ninety camels.
