حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، قَالَ: تُوُفِّيَ ابْنٌ لِأُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي الثَّالِثِ دَعَتْ بِصُفْرَةٍ، فَتَمَسَّحَتْ بِهَا، فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّا «نُهِينَا أَنْ نُحِدَّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ثَلَاثِ لَيَالٍ إِلَّا عَلَى زَوْجٍ»
Muhammad bin Sirin said: A son of Sayyidah Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) died. When it was the third day, she called for a yellow perfume and rubbed it on herself, and said: We have been forbidden from mourning for anyone who has died for more than three nights, except for a husband.
