The righteous woman Khawlah bint Hakim (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Uthman bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him), related that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out one day carrying in his arms one of his daughter's sons, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "By Allah, you (children) make (people) miserly, you make them cowardly and you make them ignorant (out of love for their offspring); and indeed you are among the (gifted) sweet basil of Allah. And indeed, the last mighty assault that the Lord of the worlds carried out was at Wajj (Ta'if)." Ibn Abi Umar added in his narration: Sufyan said: The last expedition that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) undertook was (the expedition of) Ta'if. And the poet said: "I shall surely pursue you, with the heavy trampling of one who treads with weighty steps."
