حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الرَّازِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو زُهَيْرٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَغْرَاءٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: شَهِدْتُ الْأَحْنَفَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَمَّهُ، وَعَمُّهُ جَارِيَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ وَهُوَ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قُلْ لِي قَوْلًا يَنْفَعُنِي وَاقْلِلْ لَعَلِّي أَعْقِلُهُ قَالَ: «لَا تَغْضَبْ» ثُمَّ عَادَ، فَقَالَ: «لَا تَغْضَبْ»
The narrator said: I saw al-Ahnaf bin Qays narrating a hadith to his paternal uncle, and his uncle was Sayyiduna Jariyah bin Qudamah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he was sitting with Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). He said: O Messenger of Allah, tell me something that will benefit me, and keep it brief so that I can understand it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not become angry." Then he repeated his request, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) again said: "Do not become angry."
