Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 2081 — I said: O Messenger of Allah, tell me

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْحَلَبِيُّ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ الْأَحْنَفِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جَارِيَةَ بْنِ قُدَامَةَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قُلْ لِي قَوْلًا يَنْفَعُنِي وَاقْلِلْ لَعَلِّي أَعِيهِ، قَالَ: «لَا تَغْضَبْ» ، فَأَعَادَهَا عَلَيْهِ مِرَارًا يَقُولُ: «لَا تَغْضَبْ»
Sayyiduna Jariyah bin Qudamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, tell me something that will benefit me, and keep it brief so that I can remember it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not become angry." I repeated this request several times, and each time he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not become angry."
