Sayyidah Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Once I was on the land that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had granted to Abu Salamah and al-Zubayr from the land of Banu al-Nadir, and al-Zubayr had gone out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). We had a Jewish neighbour. He slaughtered a sheep and it was cooked, and I caught its smell, and the smell of that meat affected me as nothing had ever affected me before, while I was pregnant with my daughter Khadijah. I could not bear it, so I went to his wife to borrow fire from her, hoping that she might feed me, though I had no need of fire. When I smelled it and saw it, my craving grew worse, so I put the fire out. Then I came a second time to borrow fire in the same way, and then a third time. When I saw this state of mine, I sat down weeping and supplicating to Allah. Then the Jewish woman's husband came and asked: Did anyone come to you? She said: No, except the Arab woman who came to borrow fire. He said: Then I will never eat of it unless you send her some of it. So she sent me a piece of meat, and nothing on earth seemed more wonderful (delicious) to me than that meal." Ibn Bukayr said: "Qadhah means a piece of meat with the bone."
