حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الْحَسْنَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ الْبَرَاءِ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، أَنَّ الْحَجَّاجَ، لَمَّا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا قِيلَ لَهَا: هَذَا الْأَمِيرُ الْحَجَّاجُ، فَقَالَتْ: أَمَا إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِنَّ فِي ثَقِيفٍ كَذَّابًا وَمُبِيرًا» فَأَمَّا الْكَذَّابُ فَقَدْ رَأَيْنَاهُ، وَأَمَّا الْمُبِيرُ فَأَنْتَ هُوَ "
It is narrated from Sayyidah Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) that when al-Hajjaj came in to her, it was said to her: This is the Amir, al-Hajjaj. She said: "Listen! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'In Thaqif there will be a liar and a destroyer.' As for the liar, we have seen him, and as for the destroyer, that is you."
