حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَتْ: قَدِمَتْ عَلِيَّ أُمِّي فِي عَهْدِ قُرَيْشٍ وَهِيَ مُشْرِكَةٌ، إِذْ عَاهَدُوا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مُدَّتِهِمْ، قَالَتْ: فَاسْتَفْتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي قَدِمَتْ عَلِيَّ وَهِيَ رَاغِبَةٌ أَفَأَصِلُهَا؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ فَصِلِي أُمَّكِ»
Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: My mother came to me during the time of the treaty with Quraysh, while she was a polytheist, when Quraysh had made a treaty with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for their term. She said: So I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for a ruling. I said: O Messenger of Allah! My mother has come to me and she is hoping (for my kindness); shall I maintain ties with her? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, maintain ties with your mother."
