Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 20419 — A lizard (dabb) was given to us

Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: A lizard (dabb) was given to us as a gift, so I cooked it. Then two men of my people, from Quraysh, came in, and I offered it to them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came in while they were eating; he (peace and blessings be upon him) reached out his hand, then withdrew it and said: "What is this?" I said: A lizard that was given to us as a gift, so I cooked it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) put it down, and the two of them began to put down what was in their hands. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: "Eat, both of you. You people of Najd eat it, while we people of Tihamah find it distasteful."
