Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from his maternal aunt, Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), that she said: "I placed water for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for a bath, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) took the ritual bath (ghusl) for major impurity (janabah). He tipped the vessel with his left hand over his right hand, then washed his palms, then poured water over his private parts and washed them, then rubbed his hand on the ground, then rinsed his mouth, sniffed water into his nose, and washed his face and his forearms, then poured water over his head, then poured water over the rest of his body, then moved aside and washed his feet." She said: "Then I brought him a cloth, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) threw it aside and began shaking the water off his body."
