حَدَّثَنَا الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ السَّبَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ، قَالَتْ: خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا فَاتِرًا، فَقُلْتُ: مَا لِي أَرَاكَ فَاتِرًا، فَقَالَ: " إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ وَعَدَنِي وَمَا أَخْلَفَنِي، فَظَلَّ يَوْمَهُ كَذَلِكَ وَلَيْلَتَهُ، وَفِي الْبَيْتِ كَلْبٌ تَحْتَ نَضَدٍ لَنَا فَأَخْرَجَ وَأَخَذَ مَاءً بِيَدِهِ فَمَسَحَ بِهِ مَكَانَهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ فَقَالَ: إِنَّا لَا نَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ صُورَةٌ وَلَا كَلْبٌ " وَكَانَ يُكَلَّمُ فِي كَلْبِ الْحَائِطِ الصَّغِيرِ فَمَا يَأْذَنُ فِيهِ
It is narrated that Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out one day in a listless state, so I said: What is the matter, that I see you listless? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril made me a promise, and he has not broken his promise to me." He (peace and blessings be upon him) remained in that state that day and that night. There was a dog in the house under some of our belongings, so it was taken out, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) took water in his hand and wiped that place with it. Then Jibril came and said: We do not enter a house in which there is an image or a dog. And whenever he (peace and blessings be upon him) was spoken to about the dog of a small orchard, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would not permit it.
