Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A man from Banu Sulaym came, who lived in al-Harrah with his children. He used to attend upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah, and when evening came he would go back to his family. A she-camel of his died, and his wife said to him: "Feed us its meat, for we are in dire need." He said: "No, by Allah, not until I inform the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." So he came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him (peace and blessings be upon him) the news, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Do you have anything else to suffice you instead of it?" He said: "No." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and eat it." So they melted down its fat and lived on its meat for the rest of their year.
