حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَثْمَةَ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الزَّمْعِيُّ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ وَهْبِ بْنِ زَمْعَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يَدْخُلُ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِ كُلَّ غَدَاةٍ فَيُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِنَّ، وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ عِنْدَهَا عَسَلٌ، فَكُلَّمَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا أَحَضَرَتْ لَهُ مِنْهُ، فَيَمْكُثُ عِنْدَهَا لِذَلِكَ، وَإِنَّ عَائِشَةَ وَحَفْصَةَ وَجَدَتَا مِنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَتَا حِينَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّا نَجْدُ مِنْكَ رِيحَ مَعَافِيرَ، «فَتَرَكَ ذَلِكَ الْعَسَلَ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit his wives every morning and greet them with salam. One of his wives had honey, and whenever he (peace and blessings be upon him) visited her she would offer him some of it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stay with her for that reason. Sayyidah Aishah and Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with them both) disliked this, so when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to them they said: We notice the smell of maghafir (a foul-smelling gum) on you. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave up that honey.
