حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً كَانَتْ تُهْرَاقُ الدِّمَاءَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَاسْتَفْتَتْ لَهَا أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ: «لِتَنْظُرْ عِدَّةَ اللَّيَالِيَ وَالْأَيَّامِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تَحِيضُهُنَّ وَقَدْرَهُنَّ فَلْتَتْرُكِ الصَّلَاةَ، فَإِذَا حَلَفَتْ ذَلِكَ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ وَلْتَسْتَثْفِرْ بِثَوْبٍ وَلْتُصَلِّ» .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a woman used to bleed continuously, so Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about her, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let her look at the number of nights and days in which she used to menstruate, and leave the prayer for that many days; then when that (period) has passed, let her perform ghusl, bind herself with a cloth and pray."
