حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، وَمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ بِالنِّسَاءِ؟، قَالَ: «يُرْخِينَ شِبْرًا» ، قُلْتُ: إِذًا يَنْكَشِفُ عَنْهُنَّ، قَالَ: «فَذِرَاعًا لَا يَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her); she said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what about the women (how should they let their garments hang down)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let them lower them a hand-span." I said: "Then their (feet) will be uncovered." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then a forearm's length, and let them not go beyond it."
