حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ جَامِعِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، عَنْ كُلْثُومٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُفَلِّي رَأْسَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَاءَتْ زَيْنَبُ امْرَأَةُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَجَعَلَتْ تُكَلِّمُنِي وَأُكَلِّمُهَا وَرَفَعْتُ بَصَرِي إِلَيْهَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَقْبِلِي عَلَى فِلَايَتِكِ، فَإِنَّكِ لَسْتِ تُكَلِّمِينَهَا بِعَيْنَيْكِ» ، قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ: فَجَعَلْتُ أَشْكُو ضِيقَ الْمَسْكَنِ، فَقَالَ: هَذَا كَمَا صَنَعَتِ امْرَأَةُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ، لَمْ يَسَعُهَا مَا نَزَلَتْ حَتَّى نَزَلَ عَلَى رَأْسِهَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «كَذَاكَ مَنِ اخْتَطَّ خُطَّةً بِالْمَدِينَةِ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ، فَلَهَا خِطَّتُهَا، فَوَرِثَتْ نَصِيبَهَا مِنْ دَارِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، وَأَحْرَزَتْ دَارَهَا بِالْمَدِينَةِ»
Kulthum al-Khuza'i (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she was grooming the head of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when Sayyidah Zaynab, the wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), came. She began talking to her and Sayyidah Umm Salamah began talking to her, and she raised her gaze towards her. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep your attention on your task, for you do not talk to her with your eyes." Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) said: So I began to complain about the cramped size of my house, and he said: "This is just like what the wife of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him) did; whatever space she settled in was not enough for her, until it came down upon her head." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Likewise, whoever among the Muhajir women marked out a plot for herself in Madinah, it belongs to her." So she inherited her share of Abdullah's house and kept her own house in Madinah.
