Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 19928 — the Prophet ﷺ said: Do not cut bread

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، ثنا زُهَيْرٌ، ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ اللهِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا تَقْطَعُوا الْخُبْزَ بِالسِّكِّينِ كَمَا تَقْطَعُهُ الْأَعَاجِمُ، وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ اللَّحْمَ، فَلَا يَقْطَعْهُ بِالسِّكِّينِ، وَلَكِنْ لِيَأْخُذْهُ بِيَدِهِ فَلْيَنْهَشْهُ بِفِيهِ، فَإِنَّهُ أَهْنَأُ وَأَمْرَأُ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not cut bread with a knife as the non-Arabs cut it. And when one of you wants to eat meat, let him not cut it with a knife; rather, let him take it in his hand and bite it off with his mouth, for that is more pleasant and easier to digest."
