It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) suffered from istihadah (prolonged non-menstrual bleeding). She used to bathe in a tub, and when she came out (of it), yellowness and murkiness would be spread over (the water). So Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for a ruling on her behalf. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She should wait out the days of her menses and leave the prayer during them, and on the other days she should take a ritual bath (ghusl) and pray." Ayyub said: I asked Sulayman bin Yasar: May her husband come to her? He said: "We only say what we have heard."
