حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ فَسَقَتْهُ قَدَحًا مِنْ سَوِيقٍ، فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَمَضْمَضَ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي أَلَا تَتَوَضَّأُ، فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «تَوَضَّئُوا مِمَّا غَيَّرَتْ، أَوْ مَسَّتِ النَّارُ»
Abu Sufyan bin al-Mughirah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that he visited Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), and she gave him a cup of sawiq (barley mush) to drink. He called for water and rinsed his mouth. Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O my nephew, do you not perform ablution? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform ablution from whatever the fire has altered, or whatever the fire has touched."
