حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ شَيْبَةَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: «دَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلِيًّا، وَأُسَامَةَ فَاسْتَشَارَهُمَا» ، فَأَمَّا أُسَامَةُ فَقَالَ خَيْرًا، وَقَالَ: أَهْلُكَ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ إِلَّا خَيْرًا، وَهَذَا الْبَاطِلُ وَالْكَذِبُ، وَأَمَّا عَلِيٌّ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ النِّسَاءَ لَكَثِيرٌ، وَإِنَّكَ لَقَادِرٌ أَنْ تَسْتَخْرِجَ وَتَسْأَلَ الْجَارِيَةَ فَإِنَّهَا سَتَصْدُقُ، وَذَكَرَ حَدِيثَ الْإِفْكِ
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her); she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Ali and Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with them both) and consulted them. As for Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him), he spoke well and said: "She is your wife; we know nothing about her but good, and this is falsehood and a lie." As for Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: "There are many women, and you are able to bring out (the real situation); ask the servant girl, she will tell you the truth." Then (the narrator) related the hadith of the slander.
