حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى زَحْمُوَيْهِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ الْقَاضِي، ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: «جَالَسْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مِائَةِ مَرَّةٍ فَكَانَ أَصْحَابُهُ يَتَنَاشَدُونَ الشِّعْرَ وَيَتَذَاكَرُونَ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَرُبَّمَا تَبَسَّمَ مَعَهُمْ»
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I had the opportunity to sit in the company of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) more than a hundred times. His (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions would recite poetry to one another and recall things from the Days of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would sometimes smile along with them.
