Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say one day, when the new moon of Ramadan had been sighted: "If the servants knew what (virtue) there is in the month of Ramadan, they would wish that the whole year were Ramadan." A man from Khuza'ah said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell us. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Paradise is adorned for the month of Ramadan from the beginning of the year to the beginning of the (next) year, until, when the first night comes, a wind blows from beneath the Throne and stirs the leaves of the trees of Paradise. The wide-eyed maidens (al-hur al-in) see that and say: O our Lord, appoint for us from among Your servants in this month husbands with whom our eyes will be delighted and whose eyes will be delighted with us. And there is no servant who fasts the month of Ramadan except that Allah marries him, for every day, to a wife from among the wide-eyed maidens who are secluded in pavilions. Each of these women has seventy garments, no garment of which is the same colour as another, and she is given seventy kinds of fragrance, no kind of which resembles another. Each of these women is on a throne of ruby adorned with pearls, upon seventy mattresses whose linings are of silk brocade, and above the seventy mattresses are seventy couches. Each woman has seventy maidservants who serve her and seventy honourable maidservants to receive her; with each maidservant is a platter of gold containing one kind of food, the last morsel of which is found as delicious as the first. And her husband is given the like of that; he will be on a throne of red ruby, upon which are two bracelets of gold adorned with red ruby. This is for every day of Ramadan that he fasted, besides the good deeds that he has done."
