حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ومُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ح، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بْنِ السَّرْحِ، قَالَ: ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ، ح، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَهْلٍ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، قَالُوا: ثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ أَبِي السَّنَابِلِ بْنِ بَعْكَكٍ، قَالَ: وَضَعَتْ سُبَيْعَةُ بِنْتُ الْحَارِثِ حَمْلَهَا بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ زَوْجِهَا بِبِضْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً، فَلَمَّا تَعَلَّتْ مِنْ نِفَاسِهَا تَشَوَّقَتْ فَعِيبَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهَا فَذُكِرَ أَمْرُهَا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «إِنْ تَفْعَلْ فَقَدِ انْقَضَى أَجَلُهَا»
Sayyiduna Abu al-Sanabil bin Ba'kak (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyidah Subay'ah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth some twenty-odd nights after the death of her husband. When she became pure from her postnatal bleeding, she showed a desire (for marriage), and she was reproached for it. Then her case was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If she does so, her waiting period ('iddah) has been completed."
