حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، ح وَثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ، يَقُولُ: مَاتَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ مَاتَ فُلَانٌ قَالَ: «لَمْ يَمُتْ» ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الثَّانِيَةَ ثُمَّ الثَّالِثَةَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «كَيْفَ مَاتَ؟» قَالَ: نَحَرَ نَفْسَهُ بِمِشْقَصٍ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man died in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so a man came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! So-and-so has died. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He has not died." Then he came a second time, then a third time, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How did he die?" He said: He slaughtered himself with an arrowhead that he had with him. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not offer the funeral prayer over him.
