Iyad Abu Ashras al-Sulami narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him); I invited him to a banquet, and he (came and) sat down while fasting. The people began eating, but he was not eating, so I said to him: "By Allah, had we known that you were fasting, we would not have reproached you." He said: "Do not say that, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'Accept your brother's invitation, for you will be in one of two situations with him: either it will be something good, in which your presence is most deserving, or it will be something else, in which case you forbid him from it and command him to do good.'"
