حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْأَبَّارُ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُلَيْحَةَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ، عَنِ الْهِرْمَاسِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ يَقُولُ: «إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْخِيَانَةَ، فَإِنَّهَا بِئْسَتُ الْبِطَانَةُ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالظُّلْمَ، فَإِنَّهُ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالشُّحَّ فَإِنَّمَا أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمُ الشُّحُّ فَسَفَكُوا دِمَاءَهُمْ وَقَطَّعُوا أَرْحَامَهُمْ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Hirmas bin Ziyad (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon on his she-camel, saying: "Beware of treachery, for it is a most evil inner trait. Beware of oppression, for it will be darknesses on the Day of Resurrection. And beware of miserliness, for it was miserliness that destroyed those before you: they shed one another's blood and severed their ties of kinship."
