حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ، عَنْ خَالِهِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ نِيَارٍ: أَنَّهُ عَجَّلَ شَاةً ثُمَّ ذَكَرَهَا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي عَجَّلْتُ شَاةَ الصَّبِيِّ لَنَا؟، فَقَالَ: «قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ» ، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ: «تِلْكَ شَاةُ لَحْمٍ» ، قَالَ: فَإِنَّ عِنْدِي جَذَعَةً هِي أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ مُسِنَّةٍ تُجْزِئُ عَنِّي؟، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ، وَلَنْ تُجْزِئَ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ»
Sayyiduna al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his maternal uncle Sayyiduna Abu Burdah bin Niyar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he hastily slaughtered a goat before the prayer, then mentioned it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have hastily slaughtered our child's goat. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Before the prayer?" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is a goat for meat." He said: I have a one-year-old goat that is dearer to me than an older one; will it suffice for me? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, but it will not suffice for anyone after you."
