حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحَرِيشِ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: أَتَى أَعْرَابِيٌّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا تَقُولُ فِي الضبِ؟ فَقَالَ: «مُسِخَتْ أُمَّةٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ لَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ الدَّوَابِّ مُسِخَتْ، وَلَا آمُرُ بِهِ وَلَا أَنْهَى عَنْهُ»
Abd al-Malik bin Umayr narrates from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about the dabb (spiny-tailed lizard)?" He said: "A nation from the Children of Israel was transformed, and I do not know into which animal it was transformed. I neither command it nor forbid it."
