حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ، وأَبُو عُبَيْدِ اللهِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ الرَّامَهُرْمُزِيُّ قَالَا: ثنا الْقَاضِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنِ شَيْبَةَ الْحِزَامِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الزَّمْعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي حَاجِبُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ الْحَنَفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عِيسَى بْنُ خُثَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنِي وبْرُ بْنُ مُشْهِرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ قَالَ: بَعَثَنِي مُسَيْلِمَةُ، وَابْنُ شِغَافٍ، وَابْنُ النَّوَّاحَةِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَدِمْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَتَقَدَّمَانِي فِي الْكَلَامِ، وَكَانَا أَسَنَّ مِنِّي فَتَشَهَّدَا، ثُمَّ قَالَا: نَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ نَبِيٌّ وَأَنَّ مُسَيْلِمَةَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا تَقُولُ يَا غُلَامُ؟» قُلْتُ: أَشْهَدُ بِمَا شَهِدْتَ بِهِ وَأُكَذِّبُ بِمَا كَذَّبْتَ بِهِ قَالَ: «فَإِنِّي أَشْهَدُ عَدَدَ تُرَابِ الدُّنْيَا أَنَّ مُسَيْلِمَةَ كَذَّابٌ» ثُمَّ قَالَ: «خُذُوهُمَا» فَأُخِذُوا وَأُمِرَ بِهِمَا إِلَى بَيْتِ كَيْسَانَ فَشَفَعَ فِيهِمَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَخَلَّى عَنْهُمَا "
Sayyiduna Wabr bin Mushhir al-Hanafi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Musaylimah, Ibn Shighaf and Ibn al-Nawwahah sent me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When we reached him (peace and blessings be upon him), the two of them (Ibn Shighaf and Ibn al-Nawwahah) spoke before me, and they were both older than me. They pronounced the testimony of faith, then said: We bear witness that you are a prophet and that Musaylimah is a prophet after you. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O boy! What do you say?" I said: I bear witness to what you have borne witness to, and I deny what you have denied. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then I bear witness, as many times as the particles of the earth's dust, that Musaylimah is a liar." Then he said: "Seize them." So the two of them were seized, and it was ordered that they be taken to the house of Kaysan. Then one of his (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions interceded for them, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) released them.
