It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); the hair of his forehead grew backwards, he was cross-eyed, short-necked, crook-footed, ill-shaped, left-handed (one who works with the left hand), thin-buttocked, and walked with his legs spread apart. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, tell me what Allah has made obligatory upon me." When he (peace and blessings be upon him) had told him, he said: "I pledge to Allah that I will not do anything more than His obligations." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why?" He said: "Because He created me with reversed hair, cross-eyed, ill-shaped, left-handed, thin-buttocked and walking with my legs spread apart." Then he turned his back and left. Thereupon Jibril (peace be upon him) came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Muhammad, where is the one who reproached his Lord? He reproached a Generous Lord, and He accepted what he said." (Jibril) said: "Say to him: 'Are you not pleased to be raised on the Day of Resurrection in the form of Jibril?'" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for the man and said: "You reproached a Generous Lord and He accepted what you said; are you not then pleased that Allah should raise you on the Day of Resurrection in the form of Jibril?" He said: "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah." (Then) he said: "I pledge to Allah that whatever my body has the strength to do of what pleases Allah, I will surely do it."
