Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 1824 — I heard Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah say

Ubaydullah bin al-Qibtiyyah said: I heard Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: We used to pray with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and we would say, gesturing with our hands: As-salamu alaykum, as-salamu alaykum. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is the matter with some people, that they fling their hands like the tails of unruly horses? Is it not enough for one of you (or he said: it is only enough for one of you) to place his hand on his thigh, then give salam to his brother on his right and his left?"
