حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا عَارِمٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَيُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي، قَالَا: ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَا: ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ، قَالَ: إِنِّي لَفِي الرَّكَبِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَى عَيْنُهُ عَلَى سَخْلَةٍ مَنْبُوذَةٍ أَلْقُوهَا، فَقَالَ: «أَتَرَوْنَ هَذِهِ هَانَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا» ؟ قَالُوا: مِنْ هَوَانِهَا أَلْقُوهَا قَالَ: «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لِلدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا»
Sayyiduna al-Mustawrid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was in a party of riders with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when his eye fell upon a discarded young kid (goat) that people had thrown away. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you see how worthless this is to its owners?" They said: "It is because of its worthlessness that they threw it away." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in whose Hand is my soul, this world is more worthless to Allah than this is to its owners."
