It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Muttalib bin Abi Wada'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that "the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)" prayed at the edge of the tawaf area, and there was no barrier (sutrah) between him and those performing tawaf.
These are the words of Abdullah bin Salih. Ibn Abd al-Hakam said in his narration: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when he had completed his sa'i, pray at the edge of the tawaf area, with no barrier (sutrah) between him and those performing tawaf.
