حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، وَجَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَيْلَةُ الضَّيْفِ حَقٌّ، فَإِنْ أَصْبَحَ بِفِنَائِهِ فَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ، إِنْ شَاءَ اقْتَضَاهُ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَهُ»
Sayyiduna al-Miqdam Abu Karimah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hosting a guest for one night is a right. If he spends the morning in his courtyard, it is a debt owed by him; if he wishes he may claim it, and if he wishes he may leave it."
