حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عِيسَى، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ يَعُودُهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ مَعْقِلٌ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ عُقُوبَةَ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ السَّيْفُ، ومَوْعِدَهُمُ السَّاعَةُ، وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَى، وَأَمَرُّ»
Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to Ubaydullah bin Ziyad to visit him, and Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The punishment of this Ummah is the sword, and their appointed time is the Hour, and the Hour is more grievous and more bitter."
